settle

"Shake well.

Settling is natural"

That's what the bottle of my favourite smoothie instructed me to do.

I took it a little differently.

Settle:
to place so as to stay.
to estable in residence.
to make quiet or orderly.
to arrange in a desired position.

It's so easy to settle.
Settle for less.
Settle for almost, but not quite enough.
Settle for mediocrity.

It's part of human nature to settle,
to take what is given to you and be happy with it.
It's a bit of who we are to be the person we are expected to be.

Don't get me wrong, settling can be good.
We use the term "settling down" when people get married,
and young children are encouraged to "settle down" when acting out innapropriately.

But today I dare you not to settle.
Go somewhere you've never been before, even if it's just in your own city.
See something you've always wanted to.
Say the words that always get stuck.
Get out of your house. Sleep under the stars.
Make some noise. Dance. Sing. Break a sweat.
Put yourself out there.

You'll benefit from it, I promise.

Shake well.
